USS SCHOFIELD was the third BROOKE - class guided missile frigate. Decommissioned on September 8, 1988, and stricken from the Navy list on January 25, 1992, SCHOFIELD was finally sunk as a target on November 2, 1999 off the coast of southern California. The exact location was 036° 16' 00.7" North, 120° 48' 01.0" West.
